The South Belfast Youth Football League (SBYFL) 2013 Group officially concluded their incredible 2025/26 season with an unforgettable day of team-building activities and awards at Forest Fitness NI Activity Centre.
It has been a fantastic season of player development, teamwork, and growth in the South Belfast Youth Football Invitational League. A massive congratulations goes out to the entire 2013 player group, their dedicated coaches, and, of course, this year’s well-deserved award winners!
About the South Belfast Youth Football League (SBYFL)
From humble beginnings to becoming the biggest youth football league in Northern Ireland, the SBYFL has a rich history of supporting grassroots sports.
Our History
The league was founded in October 1969 by John Cassidy and a small group of dedicated coaches from Aquinas FC. In those early days, matches were played on the grassy tracts of Ormeau Park, using coats and jumpers for goalposts! From just 45 teams across three age groups in 1969, the league has experienced massive growth.
SBYFL Today
Today, the South Belfast Youth Football League proudly caters to boys and girls from U10 to U19 levels. Over the last decade, our membership has skyrocketed, making us a cornerstone of Northern Ireland grassroots football.

Pioneers in Girls’ Football: SBYFL is proud to be the first league in Northern Ireland to introduce a fully competitive girls’ league and cup competition.

Elite Player Pathway: We also operate SBYFL Select Teams across various age groups, offering players a platform to showcase their talents at a higher level.
